Fall Coat Foliage.
The rustle of leaves on the sidewalk, glowing pumpkins at the windows, a steaming bowl of butternut squash soup…these are all signs of the arrival of Fall, which happens to be one of our favorite seasons of the year. With the changing of the weather, comes a necessary changing of the wardrobe – transitioning to corduroy, chunky cardigans, and sweaters.
But perhaps the most significant piece of the wardrobe during the Fall and Winter seasons is the coat – after all, from November to March, that’s all people really see of you as you’re walking down the street. With that in mind, we would like to present our top 4 favorite coats of Fall:
1) 3.1 Phillip Lim Plaid Coat

Plaid is perhaps the most ubiquitous pattern as Fall draws nearer – it brings to mind the return to school, Scottish highlands, and snuggling under a cozy throw by the fireplace. We love the peacoat styling, both in terms of the slightly below hip length and the large front buttons, but the real draw is the zip-off rabbit fur trim at the collar. It’s perfect for those extra-nippy days when the air holds the first hint of winter.
2) Moncler Thierry Down Jacket

Moncler is a well-known Italian luxury designer which has set itself apart by having taken the down jacket and elevating it to a more sophisticated style. At the beginning of the company’s history, they were known for their excellent and well-made camping tents, until Lionel Terray, a French mountain climber, asked Moncler specifically to create a down jacket which would stand up to rigorous mountain climbing conditions. Over the years, Moncler has kept the exceptional sport-tested qualities of its down jackets, and added an element of fashionable design. This can be seen in this navy Thierry Down Jacket, which is made of durable wool and has the added benefit of a belted collar which can be fastened or unfastened at any time, according to the severity of the environment. This is a truly fashionable yet functional jacket which will last for many years.
3) Emporio Armani Bi-Color Chevron Jacket

When plaid just isn’t doing it for you anymore, why not try chevron? This Bi-Color Chevron Jacket by venerated Emporio Armani is sure to turn heads with its exceptional attention to detail. Made of 100% virgin wool, the fit of this slim jacket is a cross between a military uniform and a traditional Chinese costume. The contrasting buttons at the cuffs, on the front pockets, and the front closure are a nice touch that adds interest to this jacket. This piece of outerwear is perfect for afternoon strolls through the park while walking the dog, or for attending an evening of jazz at an underground café/bar in the Village.
4) Vivienne Westwood Wool Coat with Split Hem

Tired of the same old ¾-length standard wool coat? We have the solution: this Vivienne Westwood Wool Coat with Split Hem. This coat is perfect for when you still want the advantages of a dressier, longer length wool coat but don’t want to look like everybody else. This black wool coat has many distinguishing features: a v-cut opening in the front hem, a slanted front placket marked by three brown buttons, and a left breast pocket in addition to two flap-top front pockets on either side. Any way you cut it, this jacket is sure to add that extra touch of elegance to any occasion.
