Packing Tape Web Installation by Numen/ForUse

Posted by on Nov 18, 2010 in AROUND THE WORLD, ART

Viennese/Croatian design collective Numen/For Use has created a web cocoon only out of packing tape, all 117,000 feet and 100 pounds of it. Drawing inspiration from a dancer’s movement across the space, the resulting web is strong enough to support visitors climbing into and all over it. The installations, which look like the work of horrifyingly large arachnids, grew in scale and scope as the year progressed, first deployed inside a small Croatian gallery, then an abandoned attic during October’s Vienna Design Week.
