Family House In Pavilniai Regional Park

Posted by on Nov 30, 2010 in ARCHITECTURE

The owner of this stunning house located in Vilnius, Lithuania bought the piece of land where stood a old yellow brick lodge with a basement that once was a cannon foundry. Cleaning the plaster of that yellow house revealed that the lodge had been built by ancient bricks  made in a old Vilnius brick factories. Because its historical value this building was considered a landmark and therefore it  had to be preserved. The creative solution came by architects G.Natkevicius & Partners who designed a glass house around the  the old brick walls creating a sublime environment where ancient bricks meet new technologies and the two together seem to take a walk holding hands, in an astonishing surrounding nature.
