Bicycle Inspired Furniture by Rui Alves

As Milan Design Week 2011 continues, industrial designer Rui Alves’ shows  his bicycle inspired furniture at Salon Satellite. He combined his passion for biking with his knowledge of woodworking and industrial design to create striking furniture with bicycle components.

Alves created the furniture after a yearlong bicycle trip and the pieces are named after the most recognizable bike races – the “tour” de France chair, the “vuelta” a Espana side table and the “giro” d’Italia sunbrella – all feature a touch of these bicycle races in the armrest handle bars on “tour to the cycling cap bill on the “giro”
