Afghanistan: Years of Turmoil

Posted by on May 9, 2011 in AROUND THE WORLD

People of Afghanistan have a short life to live as the life expectancy is only 45 years.  Their infant mortality rate is the second-highest in the world.
This country has been terrorized by 10 years of foreign military occupancy, Taliban rule, civil war, and even Soviet military occupation. Yet, at least future American involvement will be more limited in this country because of the death of Osama Bin Laden.
This collection of images expresses the reality of the toll of violence on the Afghan civilians, the U.S. military’s mission here, and the daily life of Afghan citizens.
