House of Slope by Fujiwaramuro Architects

Posted by on May 31, 2011 in ARCHITECTURE

Fujiwaramuro architects has built ‘House of slope’ in Sakai, Osaka, Japan. The flag-shaped site is surrounded by various designs of high contrast as it is a three-storey house that is located in a heavily populated residential neighborhood in Osaka, Japan. The space seems to be floating in a sense that there are large open spaces suspended by thin beams and wire.

The structure holds a 25 meter-long ramp that coils around the space. Continuing with the coiling imagery, the design has each level constructed to rest in the center of the floor plan; yet at the same time, levels are also staggering away from each other. The unique circulatory slopes of the house are supported by untreated wooden columns.

Placement of the windows and skylights create an airy and well-lit environment. The structure also brings in light to the top floors through the sunken-roof top terrace.
