Artificially Lunar
Wang Yuyang appreciation for the magic and beauty was the inspiration needed to create an artificial moon. Wang’s installation is built out of hundreds of different fluorescent light bulbs and measures over 13 ft wide in an attempt to mimic the moon’s grandiosity. Yuyang cleverly put particular lights in certain places to resemble craters and other surface details. The artificial moon shines as a beacon on display in Shanghai since the city’s view of the real moon is limited due to light pollution.
