Venice House by Daly Genik Architects

Posted by on Jul 15, 2011 in ARCHITECTURE

Architectural flair and creativity exemplifies the Venice House designed by Daly Genik Architects. This remodeled home will be presented during Little Tokyo Week. It includes a two-bedroom main house, a pied-a-terre (apartment) above the garage and a courtyard. From the original design, the home was increased to 1,700 sqf with an outdoor dining courtyard opening up to a kitchen and a study.

A two-story perforated glazed metal facade and supporting aluminum armature faces the courtyard and provides natural light and privacy into the main living environments. The studio apartment was transformed to have a balcony on the main level and a roof deck right above it. The two buildings are cooled during the summer and heated in the winter by the metal screens, landscaping, operable windows and radiant heating in the floors provided by solar collectors from the roof.
