Step-Well House

Posted by on Aug 2, 2011 in ARCHITECTURE

The tight and narrow space didn’t stop the Yoshiaki Oyabu Architects from completing the three story Step-Well House in a dense residential neighborhood of Japan. The design features a central light well that “functions as a core for circulation as well as a source of natural sunlight for all levels of the house.” Enclosed by transparent yet sturdy materials including tempered glass, acrylic mirror, and corrugated plastic sheet, the light well ensures openness and visual communication between family members on all three levels of the house.
