The Summerhill Residence by San Fransisco-based practice Edmonds + Lee Architects is the ideal rural weekend retreat. Tucked in the heart of Northern California Wine Country, full walls of glazing and expansive wooden decks reflect a desire to heighten the experience of being in the “country”. The three separate structures of the home, the main house, guest house and detached garage, are oriented in such a way to maximize the connection between the natural and the manmade. This distinction is further blurred by the way the architects have intentionally made all interior and exterior elements extend outward to the rolling hills of the surrounding landscape.
