Container Summer Residence by Designboom

  • After a rigorous process, the guys at Designboom created a DIY project in Sardinia, Italy called the “Container Summer Residence.” Their summer escape includes an outdoor kitchen and a dining area that’s shaded by a straw canopy. Protecting the dining space from too much wind, the external doors can be opened out from the container and are latched together while each space features opening or sliding doors installed within its frame. Separate from the main residence, another container functions as a bathroom. Resistant to water, humidity, saltwater and fire, shipping containers usually have a short lifespan, but some were given a second life as the abode for the Designboom crew as they create a paradise of comfort during the vacation months.
