The Local Bike by Yves Behar/Fuseproject

Yves Behar, from San Francisco based company Fuseproject, was working towards developing the ‘perfect mode of transportation’ to aid in everyday tasks and came up with the ‘local’ bike design after participating in the Oregon Manifest constructor’s design bike challenge. The ‘local’ is like the practical pick-up truck in the form of a bike. The sturdy, flexible front platform of the design can carry anything from lumber, surfboards, groceries and kids. Fuseproject integrated elements such as locking, lighting, bags and music through the company’s wireless jambox speaker into the design. A shimano ‘alfine’ internal hub with 11 gears including front and rear hydraulic disk brakes is used to provide a safe, easy, and grease-free riding experience.
