Scape House by Andrew Simpson Architects
An isolated site nestles the family coastal residence of the ”Scape House.” It takes in the majestic views of the Cape Liptrap atmosphere in Victoria, Australia. Developed by Andrew Simpson Architects, the home required the flexibility to become a beach home to accommodate the various needs of a single guest to a growing family on summer holidays. An idealised child-like characteristic exudes the sectional profile of the design.
It twists to welcome framed windows and benefits from the natural fall of the environment with its two wings capturing sufficient views east and west of the landscape. These wings create a sheltered area of protection to shield from prevailing winds on the north side. They also play a role inside the abode mediating a sumptuous amount of space that operates as the gallery, veranda, storage, dining, circulation zone, lounge and the entry way. It allows a direct engagement with the surrounding landscape while providing a shifting pattern of use.
