Chicken Chapel by Studio North

Posted by on Sep 30, 2011 in ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN | No Comments

Feathered livestock get a luxurious home since Boston based firm Moskow Linn Architects of Studio North created “Chicken Chapel”, a small free standing shelter that utilizes transparent fiberglass to make a light filled atmosphere for the birds. Situated in Norwich, Vermont, the design is a small wooden frame that is lined with panels of light fiberglass. A wattle filters sunlight and becomes a protective enclosure for the chickens  from the maple poles harvested on the site. At night, a lantern-like effect emulates the coop with its semi-opaque skin. Easy entry is accessible through the human scaled door on the opposite end while on the other end a chicken scaled door grants the birds range of freedom. A haven of comfort for these flightless birds have received quite the treatment also with these delightful coops here.
