The Faraday Utility Bike by IDEO Design Team

Posted by on Oct 3, 2011 in DESIGN, TWO WHEELS

Hoping to answer the non-profit organization Oregon Manifest’s mission to show that bikes can make the world a better place, a team of designers called IDEO worked together to create Faraday, a high quality electronic bike that’s seamlessly classic with a modern twist. This masterpiece was created in the non-profit’s biennial national competition that challenged top bike builders to make the ultimate utility bicycle.

After partnering with Rock Lobster Custom Cycles, the team designed a bike exceptionally like no other as it pedals across the finish line of innovative design with its integrated electric hub motor, custom cycle computer  for electric pedal assistance and lithium-ion battery pack. Riders can quickly add, remove, or exchange different cargo-carrying accessories with its quick release front rack mechanism. In addition, the bike also includes built-in high powered front and rear lights with ambient light sensing grips, steam-bent ash fenders, a hand-made leather bag with featured details, and more custom accessories.

With the mantra of “You loved bicycling when you were a kid – why stop?,” the Faraday is sure to ride into the wind of exemplary design.
