The Afife House by Alfredo Resende Arquitecto

Posted by on Oct 6, 2011 in ARCHITECTURE

Panoramic views encase the surroundings of the Afife House built by Alfredo Resende Arquitecto in Viano de Castelo, Portugal. The structure sits on a platform created by the existing stone walls to develop a stronger relationship with the land. Construction on top of a mountain and protection from north winds serves an elegant balance between stability and beauty. A powerful outside presence protrudes the western facade as it features an image of the house with its large windows and balcony. The pool rises relating to the garden and wall as it resides from an existing reclaimed floor parallel to the home. With its painted white plaster and volume glass, the afife house creates a harmonious dialogue between the past and the present.
