Maggie’s Nottingham by Piers Gough and Paul Smith

Posted by on Oct 27, 2011 in ARCHITECTURE, GOOD CAUSES

Cancer patients are given a special amount of care in Nottingham, UK since architect Piers Gough of CZWG and fashion designer Sir Paul Smith worked together to create Maggie’s Nottingham. Situated next to the Breast Institute at Nottingham City Hospital, this center will provide a program of support to help people diagnosed with Cancer through the practical and emotional difficulties. This structure is comprised of four interlinking oval walls risen above the ground and is splashed in green colored ceramic tiles. Vibrancy compels the interior with the brightly colored walls and patterned armchairs included in the therapy rooms, library and sitting rooms that open to the balconies outside. The design also includes a large kitchen which is an addition provided in each of the other three Maggie centers opening this year in Europe.
