Machida M House by KUS

Posted by on Oct 31, 2011 in ARCHITECTURE

The lush greenery of a forest delightfully embraces the serene make-up of the “Machida M” house in Machida City, Tokyo, Japan. Residents get the pleasure of directly engaging with the natural environment around them through the home’s large stretches of windows. Kus architecture created this home of simple form and elegant features with its set of reinforced walls that create a platform between the street level and the terrain while inducing an outdoor terrace and garden.

Activities can transcend from the indoors to the out through the homes sliding door system. This residence is a wooden wonderland with its great amount of shelving space serving as an elevated library and beams that line the ceiling in a slanted pattern. The freedom of movement and space is utilized within the ground kitchen and dining area as occupants can engage in communal affairs in this ample room.
