Mennonite Church by FARO Architecten
The “Mennonite Church” by Faro Architecten breaks away from the opulent nature of the conventional church and replaces it with a modern, simplistic look in Elspeet, The Netherlands. This church upholds the traditional Mennonite principles of pure elements abstaining from luxurious adornments that distract the togetherness and the worship kept inside. This structure becomes an embodiment of nature with its 100% makeup of wood. Sustainability is collected in the delicate features of the recycled floor boards within the interior and the harvested French acacia roof and walls of the exterior. A glass aperture in the front invites light as well as guests into the grandiose space revealed within its borders. Open air gatherings from its outdoor church allow visitors to embrace the serene environment creating a natural interaction between their worship and the landscape around them.
