The Studio of Bark Design Architects

Posted by on Nov 10, 2011 in ARCHITECTURE | No Comments

A space for inspiration nestled in the breathtaking landscape of Noosa Hinterland, Australia provides an eloquent mix of work and pleasure within its makeup. Architects Stephen Guthrie and Lindy Atkin designed a studio for their company Bark Design Architects and their clients. The structure is held up on four steel footings in order to slot between two mature Australian Eucalyptus almost allowing it to become one with the environment. Steel portal frames are cloaked with open-able and fixed glazing on three sides that’s scaled with operable blinds to take in the majestic views of the Pacific coastline. Horizontal glass makes up the solid nature of this structure contrasting with its northern timber entry platforms and horizontal roof planes. Privacy is provided from the plywood clad wooden box and large projection screen that faces the road on the fourth facade protecting residents from the western sun.
