A Public Hotel – Downtown, Chicago

  • The Ambassador East Hotel located in downtown Chicago has been revamped by the co-founder of Studio 54 Ian Schrager, into the latest concept of a luxurious yet affordable hotel. The public is known for its simplicity, efficiency and convenience it offers at an economical price. It has 285 rooms that are uniquely furnished with an eclectic aesthetic that ingratiates guests of varying tastes. In addition to the suites and common spaces provided, the meeting spaces are ideal for businesses due to its centralized location in Chicago, the library downstairs is complemented with a coffee bar that offers international java drinks. The fitness room located on the upper floors features a breathtaking view of the Chicago skyline has travelers raving. Its upscale restaurant Pump Room has served celebrities through the ages from the Queens of England to Richard Pryor, it is now headed by Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Not only did the restaurant drop its fancy dress code and overpriced entrees, the décor has been changed into a mixture of austere lighting and dark interiors all the while not losing its edge. Chef Vongerichten also created The Public Express, which is a menu of healthy meals catering to those who expect prompt room service. The Public Hotel is now open for reservations with rates starting at $135.
