New Hybrid London Double Decker Buses

Posted by on Jan 3, 2012 in FOUR WHEELS

Sticking to the vintage prestige of a traditional 1950′s double-decker bus, Thomas Heatherwick has drawn inspiration from it to create a new, stylish hybrid version for the London streets. These advanced transportation vehicles feature an open platform in the back of the bus to allow passengers to quickly hop on and off. Boarding is quicker and easier because of the three doors and two staircases included inside. Drivers have a better view of the curb and street from a asymmetrical front window with a glazing panel that’s wrapped around the exterior to reflect passenger circulation. These cutting edge buses also have 15% more fuel and 40% more efficiency than their diesel double-decker peers.
