This Multi-level private dwelling for a family of three is located in Tokyo, Japan, placed on an elevated site; the designers at Upsetters Architects took advantage of the position by further lifting the core living space to maximize the view while creating a private but transparent entrance underneath. The alley like approach makes it visually open to the exterior but has a comfortable level of privacy, from the narrow driveway which is about 15 meters there’s a stair case that leads up to a class box adjacent to an outdoor garden. The hovering effect is taken even further with the materials used, a wood construction on top of a reinforced concrete base, this combination provides structural support as well as it gives the impression of a floating volume.
