The Red Ball Project by Kurt Perschke

Posted by on Jan 18, 2012 in ART

Kurt Perschke engages cities around the World in a simple, yet innovative way in his wonderful exploit called the Red Ball Project. The goal of this venture is to place a giant red ball in different major cities across the globe in the most ordinary locations of everyday life. It can go from the most obvious regions to the most unusual leaving one wondering how it got there in the first place. This red ball has “bounced” from Toronto, St. Louis, Barcelona, Arizona, Tapei, Sydney, Chicago and many other cities. It needs to bounce over to New York so we can get a little taste of this amazing inspiration.

“Through the RedBall Project I utilize my opportunity as an artist to be a catalyst for new encounters within the everyday. Through the magnetic, playful, and charismatic nature of the RedBall the work is able to access the imagination embedded in all of us. On the surface, the experience seems to be about the ball itself as an object, but the true power of the project is what it can create for those who experience it. It opens a doorway to imagine what if?”
