Folds Like a Cheap Suit but Rides Like a Real Bike

Posted by on Feb 8, 2012 in TWO WHEELS | One Comment

Philip Crewe designed a practical folding bicycle that’s not compromised by its folding process, both easy on the eyes and very straight forward to handle. Crewe’s attempt at solve one of the most common issues of a bike rider, making the bike small enough when folded to go on public transportation. Unlike some of the heavy or complicated designs out there, this bike functions in a much simpler manner. Two hinges and a torque coupling is the solution, the user first unscrews the coupling then rolls the front wheel to be in line with the rear. A small bracket holds the wheels together which allows the bike to be rolled along. The same technique can also be applied to other types of bike as well. Don’t miss the video after the pictures.

Where did these parts come from?? Are they custom machined or can they be bought somewhere?
