Waiting For God, by Olivia Grabowski-West

Posted by on Mar 15, 2012 in PHOTOGRAPHY

Olivia Grabowski-West captures the sullen emotions of the residents in Grodek, Poland in her photo series called “Waiting For God.” These photos are portraits of people who were left behind in their village after the fall of communism. Most people between the ages of 16 and 45 left the village behind leaving a community of old people and a few young children who were left in their care. Many villagers have died of cancer which is rumored to have been because of their proximity to Chernobyl which is 350 miles near by.
