House Reduction by Make Architects

This is the first “reduction” of a home by MAKE Architecture Studio. Located in a densely populated area of St Kew, Victoria, Australia, the planning of this new portion of the house resulted in a real reduction in its domestic space. That’s right, reduction.  This project is an interesting example of how smaller spaces and increased functionality  can still provide high quality living for a large family, while significantly reducing carbon emissions.
External sliding screens are used to provide flexibility and allow the space to expand and contract The screens also protect the house from the busy street at the rear of the property as well as providing shade for the interior during the hot  summer.
