Gemma, Home Terrarium by Francesco Zorzi

Posted by on Apr 2, 2012 in HOME DECOR, ITALIANS DO IT BETTER

Italian designer Francesco Zorzi sent us over this beautiful home terrarium called Gemma Italian for  both ‘bud’ and ‘gem’. The Gemma terrarium consists of a felt holder to which is connected through a curved support a biodegradable bag containing soil and seeds. The combination of these two materials guarantees the perfect environment in terms of humidity and micro-climate protecting the plant from dangerous temperature drops.

The upper part of the Gemma consists of a sharp looking decorative vase made of porcelain which also helps  protecting the plants during their growth. The ensemble of the lower part and the upper part and their contrast of materials and finish make of the Gemma a delicate object with strong personality, very versatile, suitable for different environments either indoor and outdoor and easy to be moved from one place to another.
