Bicycle Portraits

Posted by on Apr 12, 2012 in AROUND THE WORLD, ART

The pleasures of bike riding is reaching far and wide to countries all over the globe. The love of cycling has captured the hearts of many, but seems to be lacking in South African culture. Cyclists Stan Engelbrecht and Nic Grobler aim to spread the joy of bike riding in their production of an amazing book series called “Bicycle Portraits.” After they embarked the South African landscape for two years photographing people who use bikes everyday, they compiled a series of three books featuring an array of cyclists and their trusty rides of travel. During their ventures, they spoke to different people about how their bike fits into their lifestyle and paired their unique stories with their portraits to showcase the range of aficionados connected by this passion.
