Steam Blower House by Heinrich Boil Architect

Posted by on Apr 17, 2012 in ARCHITECTURE

Remnants of the booming success of the industrial era reside within the steam blower house in Bochum, Germany. Once a part of the steel works system in the center of the city, it now serves a new purpose hosting theatrical events as a studio stage and storage room for stage equipment for the “Jahrhunerthalle,” a huge industrial hall for theater and musical performances.  Heinrich Boll Architects designed it to salvage as much of its original atmosphere as possible. Only a few additions like the new staircase and a large glass facade were incorporated to shed light upon the studio.
