Community Building Project by Al Borde
Imagine one day without running water, electricity or money. These are the necessities that secure your every day life. What would you do without them? Well, the Cabuyal people of Manabi, Ecuador seem to live just fine without these essentials. The sea and the land are their supermarket while the forest trees are their lumber as they use it to build their homes. Architects Al Borde started a project here where they constructed a building system that transferred building techniques from person to person. The goal of Esperanza Dos was to build a logical process of compiled construction so that the community can later understand the process. After they completed the project in a week, said their goodbyes and later returned, the architects were able to see their project flourish within the ingenuity of the community as stages were built and bamboo walls and hardwood floors were modified.
