Southern Burgenland Summer Home by Judith Benzer

Posted by on May 9, 2012 in ARCHITECTURE

Inspired by the sharp-edged design of a Southern Burgenland wine house, the house includes rooms for wine storage and production while the top rooms are for residential use. Judith Benzer Architecture designed the ground and first floor to be made completely from wood. All materials used in its construction were meant to create a uniform ambiance throughout the home. A larch grid mantle shuts the home completely during winter months. The folding and flap shutters, coated with a rhombus boarding, appear to melt into the mantle enhancing its remarkable undisruptive nature.
