Amazing Firefly Photography by Tsuneaki Hiramatsu

Posted by on May 29, 2012 in PHOTOGRAPHY

Remember the days of spotting the tiny glimmers of a firefly spark on the cool nights of summer? I remember working so hard to capture them so I could keep a piece of the magic flying around me. Japanese photographer Tsuneaki Hiramatsu has mastered the ability to capture the beauty of these spectacles in his firefly trail series. Taken in different places around the Maniwa and Okayama Prefecture in Japan, these photos are a series of multi-exposure and slow shutter composites that show fireflies during their mating season after the June to July thunderstorms. These ‘light paintings’ are just some of the splendid wonders of our natural green Earth that continue to astonish and amaze us of nature’s fairy tale.
