Designer Spotlight: Filippo Protasoni
After studying for many years in Italy and Norway, Filippo Protasoni further showcased his talents in product and interior design; he exhibited with Piu Yiu at the Salone del Mobile for the first time on a cooperative installation with Sawaya & Moroni. Protasoni’s focuses on creating products for furniture and lighting industries, hotel, retail and commercial spaces, exhibition and small limited editions, borderline between art and design.
Some projects to take a note of include the “Libro Aperto” which is a reinterpretation of the traditional ceiling lamp; its lighting element is left free and naked with the lampshade directly applied to the electric wire. The “Turacciolo” is a piece of furniture combined with the function of an umbrella stand, made possible with a special space big enough for the small sized ones. The “W.T.F.V.” trophy is produced as limited edition of 25 numbered items, honoring the next fashion victim. Protasoni also created a series of graphics used for various companies’ advertising campaigns that are unique and humorous.
