The L House by Architects Collective

The L house resides in the bountiful meadows of Burgenland, Austria where it seeks to become a part of it, but stands out as a one-of-a-kind structure brimming with distinction and ingenuity. The dramatic and linear skeleton of its shape merges into the sweeping hills allowing the surrounding views to be the top spectacle of the region. Architect Collective designed the entrance as a  cantilevered floor plate at the end of the lower level foyer. The way the home was arranged creates a fine line between the living and sleeping areas while visually enhancing the space. The upper level’s kitchen, living and dining rooms are bordered with terraces overlooking the landscape. The changing weather and powerful sun are shielded from the unified roof that extends into deep overhangs that protects the outdoor balconies. Triple paneled windows prevent heat loss and illuminate the entire expanse of the residence.
