The Ant House by mA-style Architects

Some of the most exquisite details of the Ant House is its expanse of open space and its overflow of warm wooden interiors. This single family residence in Omaezaki-city, Japan is revealed to the nearby street as a windowless cube covered in dark metal panels, but has a cozy welcoming vibe hidden inside. Designed by Shizouka-based architects’ mA-style,  the warm plywood palette of the front door leads into the dining area and kitchen at the base of the home. The nearby walls contain space that opens up to a room suspended within the core of the home between the ground and the first floor. Windows and a skylight allow natural light to flood into this room and into parts of the home. A stairway goes up to the top floor where the master bedroom and children’s area is parallel with free space.
