Maison E3 by Natalie Dionne

Architect Natalie Dionne designed this unconventionally magnificent home called the Maison E3 House where light and space play in an interchangeable relationship in this multi-level layout. Its name comes from the way it is organized with its cross sectional sketch similar to a capital E. Located in an animated neighborhood near the Jean Talon Market in Montreal, the Maison E3 has wavering floors and a unique geometry that connects the entirety of the home in an atypical way. It’s separated into two parts due to the uneven floors on either side where each level is connected through the staircase. Light and shadow play together in a transient partnership where the sun penetrates deep into the interior elegantly highlighting the amazing combination of materials. Large shutters protect the house from heat during the summer while also filtering the light at sunrise and sunset.
