The Fantastic Trailer by Cheryl Baxter
“Whoa. What is that?” was my first impression to this offbeat structure by Brooklyn based designer Cheryl Baxter called the Fantastic Trailer. This inflatable structure is a mobile pavilion made out of draft columns. It includes a platform base with six hubs that expand from its lower stand. This peculiar looking structure is held up by an Organza fabric that’s suspended from the circular parts which then creates these tri-columns. It inflates once the air is pumped through the textile pieces that then gradually releases through a small aluminet strip in the center seam. At night, this far-out installation illuminates light in different colors where it transforms the atmosphere into something quite magical.
