The Kentfield Hillside Residence in Kentfield

Posted by on Jun 28, 2012 in ARCHITECTURE

The curved retaining wall following along the outline of a lumpy hillside is just one of the extraordinary components of the Kentfield Hillside Residence. This house is almost like a flower blossoming from its hilly terrain in Kentfield, California. Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects designed the house to capture the breathtaking vistas of Mount Tamalpais as well as the San Francisco Bay. It appears to merge visually with the land through it’s fold under the living roof. A private courtyard for the pool is created from the roof’s curves peaking up from the hillside. The living room, kitchen/dining area and master bedroom ascend above the living roof with its shed roofs positioned to take in the sun through the photovoltaic and solar hot water panels.
