Buholmen Cabin by Skaara Architekter AS

Posted by on Jul 12, 2012 in ARCHITECTURE

Slightly blending into its rocky terrain, the Buholmen Cabin is a cozy cottage that opens up to the calm waters of a Norwegian waterfront. Skaara Arkitekter AS from Oslo designed it as two separate buildings that divide day activities into one space and sleep for the other. A patio shields the home from different wind conditions. The southernmost part includes sleeping cabins while the building towards the east has a split-level open living room/kitchen with beautiful views across the bay. The sedum-moss roof and the iron-sulphate treated pine façade work together in mixing with the natural colors of the scenery surrounding it.

I feel this design blends in with its surroundings via materials & the colour tones used.
