Up-and-coming Dutch designer Joost van Veldhulzen evokes biblical protection with his NOAH Cradle, a handcrafted plywood ark crib to be released under his new label VanJoost. Like Michelangelo discovering sculptures within his larger stone blocks, van Veldhulzen begins with one solid piece of wood and scoops sections from it until the finished shape emerges. Constructed on van Velhulzen’s remote Dutch farm, the cradles—true to their inspiration—will look natural suspended from a tree. But for parents seeking daily, majestic shelter for their newborns, this ark carries equal grandeur in the nursery.
