Food carts have proven to be this moment’s big, 5,000-pound thing, but Mexico City’s Alumnos47 foundation—a civil non-profit focused on arts and culture—travels with food for thought. Working with design company Productora, they built the “A47” library-on-wheels, a mobile education center. The truck’s interior design is flexible, with a capacity for 1,500 books shelved on removable trays; hydraulic tiered flooring that forms a “stage” for presentations; and 26 sheet metal doorways that swing out to make the space more welcoming.

Janet is a senior at Kenyon College studying English with a Creative Writing emphasis. She has a particular affinity for American literature, and enjoys discovering the narrative(s) behind a piece of art. GBlog is her blogging debut, and she is grateful for newfound exposure to objects such as the “Bug Light.” (She favors the stately praying mantis.)
