While music is oftentimes a purely auditory experience, the eyes and the ears share in musical pleasure in the visually rich print campaign for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s upcoming season. Musical instruments steal the spotlight in the series entitled “Näher an der Klassik”, which translates into “closer to the classic.” Munich-based Andreas Mierswa and Markus Kluska bring their expertise in high-end fashion photography to produce breathtaking macro images of the instruments interiors. In one image, a heavenly light shines into the f-hole of a violin, illuminating the gentle curves of the instrument’s hollow belly. Another photograph captures the copper reflections among hundreds of organ pipes, producing an endless and intricate landscape. Audiences are able to share an intimacy with the instruments to which presumably only sage craftsmen and practiced musicians were privy. Characterized by authenticity and marked with timelessness, the beauty of the instruments is captivating and anticipates a standing ovation for opening night
