Surfboard Wax Kit by Todd St. John for Indoek

Posted by on Aug 3, 2012 in DESIGN

Surfing probably does not come to mind as a stylish pastime, and neither does the chore of waxing a surfboard. However, NYC-based designer Todd St. John throws a little sophistication into the mix through his surfboard wax kit for Indoek. The limited-edition kit comes customized with a number to mark its production, and combines functionality with luxury. With its shape modeled after the hand planes used to shape surfboards, the casing for the wax does double duty. When separated, the lid is used as a scraper while the tines carved into the bottom edge of the casing can be used to comb the wax after surfing sessions. Most round wax molds fit into the inset circle, and the lid closes snugly by means of two small magnets. The piece is hand-carved from teak wood, which has a naturally waxy texture and comes in a chocolate hue with swirls of darker brown, making each kit unique. What a great reason to wax that surfboard and catch a few more waves before the end of summer! Buy here
