The New Nordic exhibit at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen is about exploring Nordic identity across time and place, through architecture and craft – including children’s toys. While created in the style of traditional Nordic woodworking, these toys depict elements of modern industry and technology. The wooden toy project came about when exhibit organizers invited Permafrost to create a small “Nordic diorama” to be featured among 30 others pertaining to the show’s theme. Founded in 2000 by four Norwegian designers, Permafrost works across different design disciplines with a commitment to simplicity. New Nordic is open until October 21st.
