Even ordinary light dimmers are incredibly fun to play with—which is why I’m so excited about Norwegian designer Caroline Olsson’s “Turn” lamp. Inspired by the knobs found on old workbenches in Norway, the lamp features a birch wood, screw-shaped rod that can be tightened to increase brightness. The “shade” made of mouth blown glass. While the lamp is now at the prototype stage, it has been shown at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair—a sign that it may soon be ready for sale.
