Fioriness by Laurent Corio

Laurent Corio’s collection of lamps designed for the Italian gallery Secondome is entitled Fioriness with good reason. The name Fioriness nods to the word for “flower” in French (fleur) and Italian (fiori), and the form of the lamps derives from the elegant relationship between a flower and its vase. The glass is hand-blown with remarkable precision: an extremely delicate channel for the electrical cord descends through the body of the lamp, recalling a stem in a vase. The bulb is encased in its own hand-blown glass volume, emitting a soft, warm, even light, inspired by the atmosphere of a candle-lit dinner or a prolonged summer twilight.
