The kitchen is the heart of a home, and it is no wonder that designer Gabriele Centazzo chose to return to a caring, hand-crafted, traditional look for “Sinetempore.” Electing Valcucine’s emphasis on customization and handicraft workmanship as his anthem, Centazzo turns to detail in order to draw out a physical hominess and comfort that every kitchen possess by nature. Age-old techniques such as carvings, mosaics, and pyrography (burning parts of wood to create patterns, images, and different coloration) breathe life into the elm that composes the kitchen shelves, doors, and storage units. The smooth, shiny surfaces of a copper cooker and steel range hood reflect the intricately textured wood, which is also contrasted by the smooth porcelain kitchenware. Drawers with custom divisions keep and separate cutlery and cooking utensils, and the storage space hides the clutter from the kitchen counter so that attention is given to the beautiful wood inlays. The ambience is set; all that is missing is the food, the conversation, and the company.
