Illustrations by Silke Bonde

Posted by on Sep 17, 2012 in ART, DESIGN

Copenhagen-based illustrator Silke Bonde creates images that convey a child-like playfulness while simultaneously adhering to a sophisticated set of design parameters. The result is a balance between whimsy and discipline. As if taking a cue from traditional Islamic art, these illustrations are developed within geometric constraints determined by the designer. In some compositions, she allows herself to use only triangles; in others, the forms are organic, but they are organized as repeated modules to constitute a cohesive whole. The color palettes are tastefully ascetic in their restraint, in accordance with the designer’s philosophy of absolute simplicity.
