Eclectic by Tom Dixon

Posted by on Sep 20, 2012 in DESIGN, HOME DECOR

British design studio Tom Dixon does a favor for any future anthropologist who might take interest in the lives of the 21st century. “Eclectic” is a collection of the ordinary that through other media and materials becomes extraordinary. The decorative items are either hand-cast or molded into representations of commonplace items, including a nutcracker, a champagne bucket, jacks, and even gentleman’s Brogue shoe. Some of the mix shines with a beautiful copper and silver luster, while others impress with a wonderful black or white sheen. Though the members of “Eclectic” are modeled after trinkets personally collected by the contributors to Tom Dixon, the public is welcomed into the family by being offered the chance to possess (almost) imperishable versions of these heirlooms. The line officially launches in mid-October of this year, but the pieces are sure to remain precious for a lifetime… and beyond.
